Former UE Law Dean is new SSS Chairman

UE alumnus and former UE College of Law Dean Amado D. Valdez has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Social Security System (SSS) by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Dean Valdez, who earned his UE Bachelor of Laws degree in 1969, first served as UE College of Law Dean in 2000. He relinquished the UE CLaw deanship in 2001 to become Government Corporate Counsel, with the rank of Presiding Justice, of the Court of Appeals. He also became a member of the board of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage Systems (MWSS) from 2001 to 2002.

He was appointed Senior Executive in charge of enforcing the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) in 2003, and Officer in Charge of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Overseas Filipino Affairs in 2004.

He returned to the UE College of Law to serve as Dean anew from 2005 to 2014. In 2006, he was honored as one of UE’s 60 Most Outstanding Alumni, on the occasion of UE’s Diamond Jubilee.

Dean Valdez is the second well-known UE alumnus to be a part of the SSS management after UE 1960 Business Administration graduate Corazon S. Dela Paz-Bernardo, who served as SSS President and Chief Executive Officer from 2001 to 2008.

Congratulations to our Warrior Dean turned Warrior SSS Chairman!
