UE Alumni Establish Australia Chapter, Induction of Officers led by Ambassador-UE Alumna

Not in the photo were Board members Millie Banan and Lillian de los Reyes, who had to attend urgent matters at the time.

Her Excellency Minda Calaguian-Cruz (AB ’73), the Philippine Ambassador to Australia and a notable University of the East alumna, inducted and hosted the Founding Officers and Board of Directors of the newly established University of the East Alumni Association of Australia, Inc. (UEAAAI) on May 5, 2017, at the Philippine Embassy in Canberra, Australia.

Ms. Evelyn Zaragoza, publisher of The Philippine Community Herald in Australia, introduced the officers and board of directors during the programme. The founding officers are President Manuel “Manny” Diel (BBA ‘69, Cum Laude), Vice-President Floro Valdez (BBA ‘69), Secretary Amelia “Amy” Diel (BBA ‘69), Treasurer Revilla “Revy” Fernandez (BBA ’70, Cum Laude) and Press Relations Officer Dave Tan (BS CS ‘11).

The Board of Directors is comprised of Mildred ‘Millie’ Banan (BBA ’77), Noel Bernardo (BSBA ‘75), Elsa Ringor Collado (CAS ’78), Lillian de los Reyes (BSBA ’83) and Dolores ‘Lee’ Alvarado Meekan (BBA ’71).

Staffers of the Philippine Embassy in Canberra were also in attendance, namely Minister and Consul General Nina Cainglet, First Secretary and Consul Jim Tito San Agustin, Third Secretary and Vice-Consul Nicole Therese Antonio de Castro, and Cultural Attaché Sheila Marie Decolongon Tu. Also in attendance was member Henry Fernandez and the partner of Floro Valdez, Nympha Valdez.
