Fallen Soldier in Marawi City a Warrior Graduate and Hero

Sgt. Rudy Almocera Espelimburgo PN (M), a UE graduate and former student-athlete, was among the soldiers deployed recently in Marawi City, which has been under attack since mid-May 2017 by the Maute Group, a radical Islamist group known for terrorist activity.

Sgt. Espelimburgo was killed in action on June 7, 2017. He had turned 35 years of age last December 21.

A member of Marine Force Recon Battalion, Class 351-352/MBC, Sgt. Espelimburgo is a graduate of the UE College of Education, from which he earned his Bachelor of Secondary Education, major in Physical Education, diploma in December 2004. He had also been a member of the UE Red Warriors Men’s Track and Field Team.

Sgt. Espelimburgo is survived by his wife Mavee, daughter Xylene and newborn daughter Xyla.

The UE community extends its condolences to the Espelimburgo family, and prays for the eternal repose of the bona fide warrior, soldier and hero that is Sgt. Espelimburgo.
