Michael Angelo Ang Pascual, an April 2018 graduate of Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics of the UE College of Education, was hailed as the Philippine Association for Nutrition (PAN)’s Most Outstanding Nutrition and Dietetics Student for 2018. He was awarded on July 13, 2018 (Friday), during the PAN ‘s 71st Anniversary and Annual Convention at the Novotel Manila Araneta Center in Cubao, Quezon City.
Mr. Pascual is UE’s second Most Outstanding Nutrition and Dietetics Student awardee, the first being 2017 awardee Patricia Louise C. Cajipe.
As a UE student, Mr. Pascual served as PAN-Sigma Chi Chapter’s Assistant External Vice President for SY 2016-2017, and as Public Relations Officer for SY 2015-2016. As PAN’s External Vice President, he spearheaded programs such as the “ND Hospital Tour” and “Dine-and-Learn.”
He was elected as the organization’s President for SY 2017-2018. During his term, he led various health programs such as University-wide free Zumba sessions for UE constituents, food sale fundraisers for community outreach projects, and sports nutrition assessment programs for poor but deserving athletes. Under his watch, PAN-Sigma Chi was also able to promote food safety and nutrition among children and their parents through nutrition parades, lectures, food demonstrations and feeding programs in various barangays in Manila; book donation and nutrition education programs for pre-school and elementary children in as far as Looc, Mindoro; and a milk feeding program for the street children of Gastambide Street as part of Bangketa UEskwela.
Under Mr. Pascual’s leadership, PAN-Sigma Chi Chapter was hailed as “One of the 10 Outstanding Student Organizations in UE” at the annual Appreciation Day for Recognized Student Organizations in March 2018.
In the 2018 Edukarangalan, the UE College of Education’s Annual Awards program, Mr. Pascual was given the Edukagalingan Award in recognition of his exceptional dedication and leadership of PAN-Sigma Chi. It was his third recognition from Edukarangalan. In 2016, he received his first Edukagalingan Award in recognition of his exemplary work as PAN-Sigma Chi’s PRO. He was awarded the Edukasipagan Award in 2017 for his volunteerism and hard work at the UE College of Education.
He was a recipient of UE’s Integrated University Scholarship, becoming a University Scholar and a College Scholar at various times as a UE CEduc student. He was a Dean’s Lister for five semesters and was a recipient of the Exemplary Academic Performance Award for two straight school years (2015-2016 and 2016-2017).
The Most Outstanding Nutrition and Dietetics Student honor is conferred on a nutrition and dietetics student with good scholastic standing and is an active member of the PAN chapter of his school.
