The UE Office of Research Coordination (ORC) has been busy fulfilling the University’s function as a center for research, underscored recently with its two researcher-writers making their respective paper presentations in various international conferences.
Dr. Alexander C. Balcoba presented four research papers in various conferences in the past four years. In December 2014, he delivered his paper on “E-Learning Program in English: Basis for Redesigning an Instructional Manual” at Nanyang University in Singapore.
Dr. Balcoba has also presented a research paper titled “University Belt Consortium Initiatives Towards Research Sustainability” at the Universiti Teknologi in Malaysia in May 2015, and “Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs): Challenges on Research Sustainability” in December 2015 in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
In May 2016, along with his co-authors Dr. Rex C. Bringula and Dr. Roselle S. Basa of the UE College of Computer Studies and Systems (CCSS), Dr. Balcoba presented a paper on “Employable Skills of Information Technology Students in the Philippines” at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada.
A faculty member of the Department of Languages at the UE CAS Manila since 2008, Dr. Balcoba is a 2000 Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy graduate of Fatima University. He earned his Master of Language Teaching degree from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in 2006 and his Doctor of Education degree from the UE Graduate School in 2014. He has been a Researcher-Writer at the UE ORC since 2014.
Mr. Mark Cleeford L. Quitoras presented his paper on “Language Proficiency and Performance Evaluation of Scores of Call Center Agents” at the 4th International Research Conference on Higher Education last January 24 to 27, 2018, at Inna Grand Bali Resort and Spa in Bali, Indonesia. The offshoot article of Mr. Quitoras’ presentation will be part of the 2018 edition of the UE Research Bulletin, which is produced by the ORC.
Mr. Quitoras earned his Bachelor of Arts, major in English, from the UE College of Arts and Sciences (CAS)-Manila in 2005. His career at his Alma Mater started in 2010 by being a probationary faculty member of UE CAS Manila’s Department of Languages. He joined the ORC as Researcher-Writer in 2012. He earned his Master of Arts in Teaching-English from the UE Graduate School in 2010, and is currently in the data gathering phase of his dissertation, on the way to attaining his Doctor of Education, major in Educational Administration and Leadership, at the UE Graduate School.
