Discounts for Special Groups

Enrolling child of OFW parent/Lucio Tan Group of Companies(LTGC) employee-parent/UE alumnus with a brother/sister studying in UE will be given discount on school fees per semester provided he/she enrolls an academic load of at least 18 units and submits the following on or before August 30 or (January 30 for 2nd Semester Enrollees):

  • NSO - Birth Certificate
  • Photocopy of OFW's passport and updated OEC issued by the POEA (for the child of OFW)
  • Updated Parent's Certification of Employment with the LTG (for the child of LTGC Employee)
  • Photocopy of updated UE Alumni ID Card (for the child of UE Alumnus)

Graduates of the UE High School Department will be given a discount on first enrollment at UE if enrolling as Freshmen with an academic load of at least 18 units.

History

Originally a part of the then Office of Admissions and Registration, the Admissions Office was created in the early 1980s to take charge of the implementation of policies on admission and preliminaries to matriculation. The Office examines and processes entrance credentials of freshmen applicants, transferees, degree-holders and cross-registrants seeking admission to the University.

The Admissions Office is headed by a Director at the Manila Campus and an Assistant Director at the Caloocan Campus.

The first Director of the Admissions Office was Dr. Pocidio C.M. Quiambao, Jr. He was appointed in 1983. The Directors who succeeded Dr. Quaimbao were Romeo Q. Armada, Maximo S. Gomez; Erwin B. Bermillo, who is presently the University Registrar, and Marcelo E. Vergara.

Academic year

The academic year at the University of the East is divided into two semesters of at least fifty-four (54) hours for lectures, recitations, including final examination. A summer session of six (6) weeks follows the second semester.

The first semester usually begins in June, the second semester in November, and the summer session in April.

All academic units of the University operate under the semester system.

General Policy

Admission to any of the undergraduate courses of the University shall be selective and shall be correlative with the retention policy of the University.

As a general rule, no applicant may be admitted to and registered in the University unless he/she satisfies all the prescribed requirements/credentials and qualifying factors laid down by the University Academic Council.

Mission and Philosophy

In pursuit of the University's mission in dedicating itself to the service of the youth, country and God, the Admissions Office is committed to making the University accessible to all applicants who wish to be admitted and who want to avail of the school's academic services towards improvement of themselves and the community.

OBJECTIVES

A. General Objectives

The Admissions Office shall serve as linkage of the University to all applicants who wish to be admitted and enrolled in the degree programs and avail of other services offered by the University.

B. Specific Objectives

  1. To inform all applicants for admission of:

    • a) the admission policies/procedures
    • b) the various scholarships and grants available, and the requirements thereof

  2. To screen and process the applications for admissions of high school graduates, transferees, degree holders and cross registrants

  3. To conduct/administer the College Entrance Test (CET) to prospective freshmen and tranferees and to assist them in the registration of subjects

  4. To assist foreign student applicants in their application for issuance of Study Permit at the Bureau of Immigration/Department of Foreign Affairs

  5. To assist prospective students in their application for possible scholarships and/or grants

Pre admission requirements

Admission Requirements for the following

Freshmen

A. Filipino and Resident Foreign Students

  • Original copy of Form 138 (or Form 137A)

  • Latest Certification of Good Moral Character

  • Report of UE-CET results

  • NSO - Authenticated copy of Birth Certificate

Additional Requirements

  • For valedictorian or salutatorian, certificate issued by the High School Principal indicating the honor or academic award received and the number of graduates

  • For resident foreign student, updated Alien Certificate of Registration (ACR) issued by the Bureau of Immigration (BI)

  • For full-time working student, certificate of employment

  • For applicant to the College of Fine Arts , he/she should pass the Talent Test administered by the College

B. Non-Resident Foreign Students

Government Requirements

  • Scholastic Records issued by the school head and duly authenticated by the Philippine Embassy located in the applicant's country of origin or residence

  • Documentary Proof of Support to cover expenses incidental to his/her studies, such as board and lodging, as well as return airline ticket duly authenticated by the Philippine Embassy located in the applicant's country of origin or residence

  • Police Clearance Certificate duly authenticated by the Philippine Embassy located in the applicant's country of origin or residence

  • Medical Health Certificate with standard-size chest X-ray

  • NICA Clearance (from the Bureau of Immigration)

University Requirements (in addition to the Government Requirements)

  • Authenticated copy of Diploma / Certificate of Graduation / Certificate of Completion

  • Authenticated copy of Birth Certificate

  • Report of CET results

  • Two (2) Letters of Recommendation (one from the Headmaster of the school and another from a former teacher or professor)

  • Seven (7) copies of the applicant's latest 2"x2" photo

  • Personal History Statement

  • Updated Alien Certificate of Registration (ACR) or Special Study Permit (SSP) issued by the Bureau of Immigration (BI)

  • Passport

  • Payment of Acceptance Fee of one hundred twenty-five US dollars (US$125.00) or its peso equivalent at the prevailing exchange rate upon release of the Notice of Acceptance (NOA). Check or money order should be made payable to the University of the East.

  • Payment of seventy-five US dollars (US$75.00) or its peso equivalent at the prevailing exchange rate as Processing/Service fee. Check or money order should be made payable to the University of the East

Transferees

As a University policy, the University of the East accepts transferees provided they completely comply with the prescribed documents and other requirements specific to the college where they intend to pursue a degree.

Pre-admission Procedure

  • Step 1: Proceed to the Admissions Office for the Online Application for Admission. (Applicants may also apply for admission online at the following website: www.ue.edu.ph)

  • Step 2: Submit the accomplished Application Form for Admission at the Admissions Office

  • Step 3: Pay the CET fee at the Finance Department

  • Step 4: Present the receipt of payment at the Admissions Office and take the test at the assigned testing center

  • Step 5: Secure the CET results

Important Notes

CET results are released immediately after the test.

Freshmen applicants for the next school year may take the CET starting August.

  6. Proceed to the Registration Area for advising and encoding of subjects
