The University of the East congratulates four of its Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) students of the UE College of Business Administration (CBA)-Manila who were collectively adjudged as the 3rd Runner-up in the College category of the national elimination round of the very first Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Future Sustainable Leaders 2021 (A-FSL 21) Case Competition!
The awarding was held this past Sunday, October 24, 2021.
The video competition saw groups of senior high school and college students pitch ideas on multidisciplinary issues related to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The participating groups were tasked create a 10-minute video tackling at least one of the 17 SDGs.
The UE CBA Manila team was led by 3rd-year BSA student Racky Marson G. Escueta, with fellow 3rd-year BSA student David Mckynshier G. Salgatar, and 4th-year BSA students Jasmin Xyly G. Damulog and Almairah B. Gubat completing the team.
Their video entry discusses the 17th Sustainable Development Goal or “Partnership for the Goals.” Per a statement by the UE group, they chose this particular attribute as they wanted to inspire the value of vision and unity. The UE team’s work took some three weeks in all: two weeks for the research and scriptwriting work, and one week for the video production.
Serving as the team’s mentor is UE CBA Manila Professor Lindley Jan P. Mesina.
For the final screening of the competition, which found the students go through a three-person panel interview to present a summary of their produced video and answer questions about it, the UE CBA Manila team’s entry competed against videos from students of Divine Word College of Calapan, Holy Angel University, iAcademy, Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation, Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology, Southern Leyte State University-San Juan, Southville International School and Colleges, Technological Institute of the Philippines-Quezon City, University of San Carlos, and University of the Cordilleras.
The A-FSL 21 is a project of the ASEAN Accounting Education Workgroup (AAEW) and the International University of Malaya-Wales (IUMW).
