Congratulations to the UE College of Computer Studies and Systems (CCSS) students who excelled in the various competitions of the 11th IT Skills Olympics!
This interschool, on-the-spot set of programming contests, with theme “ICT at the Convergence of Education and Technology in the Hyflex World,” was hosted by the University of Makati College of Computing and Information Sciences. It was held last November 11, via a hybrid onsite and online set-up, with onsite events being held at the University of Makati.
A total of 37 learning institutions from across the country competed in this hybrid olympics. The contests for programming categories such as Java Programming, .NET Programming using C#, Android Apps Development and Cybersecurity were conducted online, while the competitions on Digital Electronics, PC Assembly/Disassembly, Networking, Web Design, Quiz Bee and Esports were done onsite.
UE CCSS’s Chazz C. Manubay, a 3rd-year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) student, was the Champion of the Networking Competition. He is a UE-Tan Yan Kee Foundation Inc. (UE-TYKFI) scholar and the President of the CCSS Computer Students Society (COMSSO).
Winning 2nd Runner-Up in the IT Quiz Bee was 4th-year UE Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) student Virgilio A. Lopez Jr. Mr. Lopez is likewise a UE-TYKFI scholar and is a scholar of the Department of Science and Technology, and the Assistant Team Leader of the UE CCSS Research and Development (RnD) Unit.
Mr. Matthew P. Deloro, a 3rd-year UE CCSS BSIT student, won 2nd Runner-Up in the. NET Programming using C# Competition. A member of the CCSS RnD Unit, Mr. Delloro was the C# Programming Competition Champion in the 10th IT Skills Olympics held online on October 10, 2021.
Serving as the three students’ coaches for these competitions are UE CCSS Associate Dean Arne R. Bana, Dr. Sheila M. Geronimo, Prof. Melie Jim F. Sarmiento, and Prof. Mark Anthony D. Uy.
The UE CCSS is a Commission on Higher Education-recognized Center of Excellence in IT Education.
