A highlight of every University of the East anniversary, the University Convocation for UE’s ongoing 75th Foundation Anniversary will tackle “The UE Experience: Our Gateway to Success and a Life of Giving,” and will be aired this Monday, September 27, 2021, 2 p.m., via the UE Livestream channel on YouTube.
The keynote speakers will be two highly accomplished graduates of the UE College of Business Administration-Manila (UE CBA Manila): Mr. Primo M. Valerio and Mrs. Eloisa L. Valerio, successful finance executives and social entrepreneurs both.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Valerio are UE Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, major in Accounting graduates with the Latin honor of Cum Laude—she earning her degree in 1969, he in 1970.
Among their current affiliations are with their family-owned E. L. Valerio Realty—which was initially conceived for real estate development and medium-scale marketing, particularly of townhouses, condominiums, and subdivision housing and development—and Solanaland Development Inc.—a real estate company focused on developing various residential and mixed-use communities largely in the Central Luzon region. Mr. Valerio is the President of both companies, while Mrs. Valerio is Director of both companies and the Vice President for Design and Marketing at Solanaland.
Both are currently based in Pampanga and are certified public accountants who began their professional careers post-graduation at SyCip Gorres Velayo & Co. (SGV & Co.). Together, the couple have accrued five decades’ worth of local and international experience in accounting, advertising, auditing, banking, business, corporate planning, franchising, management, marketing, merchandising, operations, and real estate development.
The Valerio couple has also made giving back a genuine commitment—co-founding and running TATAG, a forerunner of Gawad Kalinga that spearheaded the construction of more than 1,000 homes for the poorest of the poor in Novaliches; handling leadership posts in Living for Christ Foundation, which built nearly 800 houses in Nayong Tsinoy in Pampanga for poor families; and co-founding and running Solanaland Foundation Inc., which has provided within Pampanga feeding programs for Aeta communities, support for pandemic-displaced jeepney and tricycle drivers, medical care in far-flung areas, and scholarships for children of the company’s construction workers, among other philanthropic efforts, along with home-building for victims of the Marawi City siege and donation of solar lights to a Mindoro tribe with no access to electricity.
Mr. and Mrs. Valerio are likewise Trustees of the BES HNS Foundation Inc., a foundation incorporated in 2016 comprised by UE CBA alumni who are Beta Epsilon Sigma fraternity brothers and Hiyas ng Silangan sorority sisters. The Foundation’s aim, among others, is to provide scholarship grants to select UE Bachelor of Science in Accountancy students, along with leadership training and the improvement of written and verbal communication skills among its scholars. The Foundation also assists its scholars in their preparation for the CPA licensure examination and taps its network of companies for job placements for its scholar-graduates.
The University Convocation 2021 is essentially a means for Mr. and Mrs. Valerio to share the lifelong experience of how their UE education has been the key to their bright tomorrows are Warrior success stories.
