Congratulations to the team of UE College of Arts and Sciences-Manila students who, as members of Sinag Films, won 2nd Place in the Filmare Film Festival 2024!
The winning UE students—Radnyl Jay N. Alejo, Marianne V. Alla, Beatrice Nelliza M. Asuncion, Tricia Lyn P. Camacho, Marguaxe Angeli C. Hinacay, Rea Mari S. Quiñones, Jhon Ramuel N. Tam-is, Angelica Mae L. Tomagan, and Winnie Anne F. Trinidad—are all in their third year as Bachelor of Arts in Broadcasting students of UE CAS Manila.
Produced by Marcial Angelico SC. Castro with Maresciel A. Yao of Stimula Productions as the Executive Producer, Filmare Film Festival 2024 (NCR Leg) is the first of a series of filmmaking contests utilizing only smartphones.
The awarding took place on May 17, 2024, at the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC). In attendance were the representatives of the University of the East-Manila along with several participants from Centro Escolar University, National University and Trinity University of Asia.
The festival conferred a total of four awards: Best Actor, Best Actress, People’s Choice, and Best Picture. Mr. Tam-is was a nominee for Best Actor, while Miss Tomagan and Miss Hinacay were nominees for Best Actress.
Moreover, the Sinag Films team members collectively won 2nd Place in the Best Picture category for their entry, ‘Hapis’, which was directed by Miss Alla and for which the team received a certificate and a cash prize.
Serving as Sinag Films’ mentors for this competition were UE CAS Manila Dean Gary C. Dy, BA Broadcasting Department Chair Deborah A. Javier, and Program Coordinator Julius Cesar R. Pascual.
