Two professors of the UE Senior High School (SHS)-Manila were commended for presenting their papers at the 13th Annual Education and Development Conference held in Bangkok, Thailand, on March 5 to 7, 2018.

Prof. Rosel Cipriano, with his research study titled “Effectiveness of Headhunting on the Recruitment Process Strategies on Selected Contact Center Providers,” and Prof. Chloe Nicole Piamonte, with her paper “The Pedagogy of Role-Taking: The Self as a Happy Slave,” both presented in the parallel sessions of the event whose audience were composed of master’s or doctor’s degree holders and researchers from the different parts of the world.

The conference, with its devotion to providing a unique platform for educational discussion with expert scholars and experienced professionals, was attended by 50 paper presenters and experts from Canada, Mexico, Qatar, the UK, the USA, and other Asian and European countries.

The first day of the conference catered to paper presentations that adhered to the themes: Education and Development, Higher Education, and Cross-cultural Issues in Education. This was followed by a networking dinner in the evening, where the participants delighted not only in the hospitality of the Thai, but also in the opportunity to meet new people and reconnect with fellow professionals. The second day saw various presentations under the themes of Teacher Education, Literacy and Language Education, Educational Leadership, Teaching and Learning, Case Studies, and Poster Presentations. The last day was designated for the Parallel Sessions whose themes were Case Studies (where Prof. Cipriano presented), Teaching and Learning, and Education Technology and Innovation (where Prof. Piamonte presented).

The UE Manila professors were fervent on this endeavor as the University and its President, Dr. Ester P. Garcia, prioritize research, along with the Basic Education Department spearheaded by Dr. Nieva J. Discipulo, Principal, and Assistant Principal Gerardo V. Venturina, with the support of Dr. Olivia Caoili, University Research Director, Chancellor Linda P. Santiago, and College of Education Dean, Dr. Evelina M. Vicencio.
