UE Silanganan Dance Troupe Pays Tribute to Philippine Dance Icons via “Sayaw ng Bayan”

 

 
sayaw ngf bayanThe University of the East Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA) invites everyone to watch the UE Silanganan Dance Troupe in the premiere of Filipino Heritage Festival Inc.’s (FHFI) “Sayaw ng Bayan: Isang Pagpupugay sa mga Pambansang Alagad ng Sining” on September 30, 2020 (Wednesday), 5 p.m. via the FHFI Facebook page and YouTube channel.

The one-hour video presentation pays tribute to some of the Philippines’ National Artists for Dance, namely Francisca Reyes-Aquino, Leonor Orosa-Goquingco, Lucrecia Reyes-Urtula, Ramon Obusan and Alice Reyes. The program will put into focus the respective contributions to the development of Philippine Dance.

The program will feature testimonials, as well as performances from the UE Silanganan Dance Troupe to showcase and identify the aspects of each of the five artists’ work.

“Sayaw ng Bayan” is written and directed by acclaimed thespian, writer and director Dennis Marasigan, while UE OCA Director Generoso Caringal serves as the show’s choreographer. Jesse Lucas serves as the Musical Director with Ricardo Eric Cruz as Set Consultant. Technical and Light Direction is by Roldan Lozano. Maritoni Rufino Tordesillas serves as the program’s host.

“Sayaw ng Bayan” is presented in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, the University of the East, and the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
