UE Caloocan Week

The University of the East Caloocan will celebrate the UE Caloocan Week 2012, a nine-daylong celebration replete with interesting festivities from February 20 to 25, 28, 29 and March 1, while its theme of the celebration is “Unity and Excellence in Realizing Exemplary Dreams” (UE RED).

The UE RED-tagged events include a thanksgiving mass, motorcade and parade, sportsfest, seminars, arts exhibit and competition, campus tour and free college entrance test, contests and quiz bee, UE alumni awareness gatherings, pageant, research presentation, team building, film showing, blood-letting, IT tutorials, job fair, among others.

Overall Chairman of the celebration is UE Caloocan Chancellor Zosimo M. Battad; College of Engineering Dean Victor C. Macam, the Steering Committee chair; members are: Deans Julian E. Abuso (Arts and Sciences), Rogelio V. Paglomutan (Business Administration) and Celino B. Santiago (Fine Arts), Elementary and High School Dept. Principal Benilda L. Santos and Student Affairs Office Director Clemente A. Diwas.

Highlight of this year’s celebration is the UE Caloocan Convocation featuring a Lecture on “The Challenges in the Airline Industry” to provide insights on the changes taking place in the airline industry in both local and global perspectives to the students, faculty members and guests of the UE. Guest of honor and speaker is Philippine Airlines (PAL) President and Chief Operating Officer Jaime J. Bautista, concurrent Vice Chairman of the University of the East (UE). The Lecture is scheduled onWednesday, February 22, at 9:30 a.m. at the UE Caloocan Multipurpose Hall.

“We are privileged to have the President and COO of the country’s flag carrier to discuss changes in the Philippine Airlines, the global industry competition, particularly in East Asia, — its implications to the country’s tourism and economic development, and the needed changes in the airline regulatory policies,” said Dean Paglomutan.
