UE sets 65th Year-end Commencement Rites, Baccalaureate Masses

The University of the East (UE) will hold its 65th Year-end Commencement Rites on April 18 and 19, 2013, with distinguished UE alumni who are business executives/professionals as commencement speakers.

“UE will have an estimated 2,654 confirmed candidates for graduation from the UE Manila and Caloocan campuses for the 2013 year-end commencement rites.

Leading them is Ms. Claudine J. Claudio from the UE Caloocan College of Arts and Sciences, recipient of the UE Outstanding Graduate Award,” said UE University Registrar Erwin B. Bermillo. Ms Claudio, a B. S. Tourism Management candidate, Magna Cum Laude, will also receive the UE Leadership Award for Women (UE Caloocan) and the College Distinguished Graduate Award.

The UE graduates, accompanied by their parents, will mark their commencement rites at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Plenary Hall, CCP Complex, Pasay City, on the following schedules: Thursday, April 18, 9 a.m., the UE Colleges of Arts and Sciences (UE CAS) Manila and Caloocan campuses, Computer Studies and Systems (UE CCSS), Education (UE CEduc), and Engineering (UE CEng’g) – Manila. Commencement speaker is Mr. Alberto G. Quiazon, Citibank Singapore Vice President for the Asia-Pacific Citi Technology Infrastructure Middleware Operations. Quiazon graduated BS Computer Science at the UE in 1994.

On the same day, at 2 p.m., the UE Colleges of Business Administration (UE CBA) Manila and Caloocan campuses, Engineering – Caloocan, and Fine Arts, Architecture and Design (CFAD) with Mr. Cezar T. Quiambao, Stradcom President and Chief Executive Officer, a Certified Public Accountant, and a 1969 UE BSBA Accounting graduate as the commencement speaker.

On Friday, April 19, 3 p.m., at the UE Theater, the UE Graduate School (GS) and Colleges of Law (CLaw) and Dentistry (CDent); commencement speaker is Dr. Diampo J. Lim, President, Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Foundation for Outstanding Professional Inc. and the Academy of Dentistry International, and former UE CDent Dean. Dr. Lim is a 1960 UE Doctor of Dental Medicine graduate, Magna Cum Laude.

Baccalaureate Rites will be held on April 17 for the UE Caloocan and UE Manila candidates for graduation. For UE Manila CAS, CCSS and CDent candidates, UE Chaplain Rev. Fr. Bernard Martin and Atty. Pastor Jeremiah B. Belgica will preside over Ecumenical Rites at 8:30 a.m. UE Theater, UE Manila. At the same venue, at 2:00 p.m., Fr. Martin will celebrate Mass for the GS, CLaw, CBA, CEduc, and CEng’g candidates.

At the UE Caloocan, Fr. Vino Faminialagao and Pastor Ferdie Del Valle of the Victory Christian Fellowship will lead Ecumenical Rites for the CAS, CBA, CEng’g, and CFAD candidates, at 2 p.m., Dr. Lucio C. Tan Building Multipurpose Hall.

UE President and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Ester A. Garcia will convey to the candidates, baccalaureate messages during the respective morning baccalaureate rites in UE Manila and UE Caloocan. UE Manila Chancellor Dr. Linda P. Santiago will give the baccalaureate message during the afternoon Mass in UE Manila.
