UE Red Warrior Juniors’ Taekwondo Team wins Second UAAP Championship in a row


Congratulations, UE Red Warriors Juniors’ Taekwondo Team, back-to-back Champions of UAAP 77 Juniors’ Taekwondo Tournament. The competition was held on September 19 at the Filoil Flying V Arena, San Juan City.

The Warrior Jins won three gold medals and one silver medal in the competition.

Jake Francis Calda was adjudged the competition’s Most Valuable Player, while Jemuel Rendora won Rookie of the Year in this year’s tournament.

Calda won the gold medal in the tournament’s featherweight division, while Rendora captured the gold medal in the finweight division.

Completing UE’s medal haul are Miguel Garcia, who also won a gold medal in welterweight, and Dane Brion who won a silver in the flyweight division.

Meanwhile, the UE Red Warriors Men’s Taekwondo Team settled for first runner-up after succumbing to the University of Santo Tomas in the tournament’s Men’s Division.

Rookies King Philip Pineda, Joenel Rendora and Jenar Torillos all contributed to the team’s medal haul. Pineda won a silver medal in the finweight division. Likewise, Rendora and Torillos won silver medals in the flyweight and bantamweight division, respectively.

The Warriors Jins are under the helm of Coach Jeffrey Figueroa and Assistant Coach Maurice Ronario.
