UE Department of Libraries, 1st Book Contest

book talk

The UE Department of Libraries, in cooperation with the Book Lovers’ Club—one of the Multiple Intelligences clubs of the UE Elementary and Secondary Laboratory Schools (ESLS)—is holding its 1st Book Talk Contest tomorrow, November 27, 2014, 9 a.m., at the UE Main Library’s Reference Section on the 3rd floor of the P. O. Domingo Center for Information Technology (POD-CIT)!

Competing are Mr. Edinburgh Kyle Balili and Ms. Quisha Leigh Varez, who are both 4th-year high school students of the UE ESLS section Einstein.

Both secondary-level students will aim to outdo one another to be adjudged the book talk contest winner by imbibing the three key elements to a good book talk: the hook (presenting something that will grab their listeners’ attention), the content (talk about their book’s genre, characters, plot, setting or theme in an interesting way) and the cliffhanger (ending their book talk with their listeners wanting more).

Each contestant has 15 to 20 minutes to do his or her talk about their respective books. Organization, eye contact, facial and vocal expression, body actions, volume, grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary will be crucial in deciding the winner.

Good luck, Book Talk Warriors! — with Gerardo Venturina, Rebecca Lyricstudio, Fely Diego, Lori Garcia, Emeli Hizon Dela Cruz, Mam Leonie, Nieva Discipulo and Rio Escobar.
