April 11, 2016, a Monday morning, more than marked the start of a brand new week. This fateful day likewise marked a major milestone in UE history: the birth of a brand new University of the East campus, UE Laguna.

On this date, in the presence of UE trustees, academic and administrative officers, as well as our colleagues from the UE Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center Inc., the Tan Yan Kee Foundation Inc. and other member institutions of the Lucio Tan Group of Companies, our partners in Mohri, Architect & Associates Inc. and Mohri & P.A. Associates Inc., along with key local government officials of Laguna and other special guests, we conducted the ceremonial groundbreaking of what is to become UE Laguna.

A vital and vibrant addition to Eton City once fully developed and opened, UE Laguna would also be the largest UE campus yet. It would be capable of accommodating thousands and generations of students from the pre-school to tertiary levels—an academic institution conducive to providing quality education for countless future leaders, achievers, topnotchers and champions able to make their mark not just locally but also internationally.

We in UE are thankful to the Almighty for this and numerous other blessings in UE’s continued, formidable existence for, as of this year, the past seven decades. We are likewise grateful to all of our fellow members in the UE community—officers, professors, employees, students and alumni—as well as our partners in making this dream of a brand new University of the East campus, UE Laguna, a bold, vivid and genuine reality.
