UE Celebrates Arts Month with Array of Activities


The University of the East, through its Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA) and in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), is celebrating the National Arts Month 2017 with an exhibit featuring the GAMABA (Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan/National Living Treasure Award) that is currently on display up to February 28, 2017, at the lobby of the Dalupan Building in UE Manila.

UE’s Arts Month celebration will also showcase Ugnayan sa Sayaw, to be held on February 23, 2 p.m.; the UE Elementary and Secondary Laboratory Schools’ (ESLS) musical play Doon Po sa Amin, to be staged on February 24, 3 p.m.; and the on-the-spot Sininglangan Ballpen Art Competition, slated for March 3.

Ugnayan sa Sayaw, a festival of dance, will feature the following dance troupes from guest schools: Lakandula High School Sining Lahi Dance Troupe, Mariano Marcos Memorial High School Dance Troupe, Ramon Magsaysay High School Salinlahi Dance Troupe, and Villamor High School Sanglahi Dance Troupe. The UE ESLS Siglang Galaw and the UE Silanganan Dance Troupe will also perform.

Both the dance festival and the musical play will be both conducted at the UE Manila Quadrangle and will be open to the public for free.

The Sininglangan Ballpen Art Competition, meanwhile, will be held in UE Caloocan and will have as contestants promising visual artists from among the college students of various schools of the National Capital Region and the nearby provinces. Cash prizes and medals for the first, second and third prizes will be awarded to the winners, including a Sponsor’s Choice Award.
