UE Manila Hosts Fun, Free Activities for Incoming Kinder, Grade 1 Pupils

Incoming Kindergarten and Grade 1 pupils and their parents or guardians are invited to enjoy the latest array of fun and free activities by the Kinder and Elementary Department of UE Manila, led by the musical play Doon Po sa Amin, to be staged this Friday, February 24, 2017, 2 p.m., at the Quadrangle of the Manila Campus!

In line with the theme of “Intentional Character Development through Music and the Arts” and in observance of February as National Arts Month, the musical play aims to showcase the creative and artistic performing clubs of the Kindergarten and Elementary Laboratory Schools, promote the talent of our students in KELS, and inculcate values through music and arts. It is a production of the UE Elementary and Secondary Laboratory Schools (ESLS) under the UE College of Education, in cooperation with the UE Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA).

Doon Po sa Amin will feature songs by Dr. Bethel Diokno Schnitzlein, with the overall show script written by Prof. Flormay O. Manalo. Dr. Schnitzlein’s songs (“Ating Mga Alaga,” “Hintayin si Nanay,” “Mga Prutas Natin,” “Kay Ganda Nitong Kamatis,” “Bahay-bahayan,” “Kabataan, O Kabataan,” “Ulan,” “Pusong Pinoy,” “Panata: Ako ang Kabataan” and “Kaming mga Bata”) mirror the simple and happy life of the Filipino family, while Prof. Manalo’s script will essay a story based on fundamental Philippine customs, traditions and culture. The song, dance and acting performance will be rendered by UE Manila Elementary students who are members of the ESLS’s multiple intelligence (MI) clubs, including UE ESLS Munting Teatro.

Dr. Bethel Diokno Schnitzlein is a Philippine-born international lecturer, author, composer and professional counselor based in Austria. She has lectured on music and values education in 25 countries. Ms. Sarah Elisabeth D. Schnitzlein, daughter of Dr. Schnitzlein, will be present to introduce to introduce the composer further to the attendees. The performers will be a mix of Kindergarten and Grade 1 pupils of UE Manila.

The program will be hosted by Teachers Louise Mae C. Bangsal and Mary Rose T. Dela Peña. UE ESLS Principal Nieva J. Discipulo and Assistant Principal Gerardo V. Venturina and OCA Director Generoso A. Caringal will deliver remarks and messages.

Doon Po sa Amin will be followed right after, starting 4 p.m., by a campus tour and a showcase of M.I. clubs via M.I. stations, inclusive of a photo booth, an art booth, film showing and a library exhibit. These will be in three UE Manila Kindergarten classrooms: HS 100, 102 and 104.

Come April, there will be a three-day trial class for incoming Kindergarten and Grade 1 pupils, on April 5 to 7 (Wednesday to Friday), 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., at rooms HS 103 and 104.
