9th Academe Industry Summit held on May 10, 2017, at the JPL Hall of Freedom of the Lyceum of the Philippines University in Intramuros, Manila.

With the theme “Breakthrough Innovation in Business Education toward Quality Global Standard,” the summit had in attendance educators in business from all over the country, as well as partner industries from the People Management Association in the Philippines (PMAP), the Production Management Association of the Philippines (PROMAP) and the Philippine Marketing Association (PMA), among others. Among those in attendance were UE College of Business Administration (CBA)-Manila Dean Veronica N. Elizalde, and a number of UE CBA Manila professors.

As one of two awardees of Outstanding CEO in the Academe, President Garcia was recognized for her outstanding leadership of the University, as well as the exponential growth UE achieved during her tenure. She was also applauded for her achievements for the University, most notably UE Manila’s achieving of the Autonomous Status from the Commission on Higher Education in 2010, which has been renewed and is good up to 2019; the increase in number of accredited programs in UE to 48 from just three in 2006; her push for a more outcomes-based education for UE students and boosting the University’s research culture; and her managing the University’s preparations for the full implementation of the government’s K to 12 program.

Congratulations, Warrior President Garcia! Your University of the East is proud of you!
