UE Caloocan and UE Manila Senior High Students are Top Two Teams in Globe Video Competition

A group of Senior High School (SHS) students from UE Caloocan and another one from UE Manila took home the two highest awards in Globe MyBusiness’ ProjectEd, a video competition open to all high school students nationwide. The awarding ceremony was held last March 8, 2018 at the Maybank Theatre, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

The UE Senior High School students bested 88 other groups from various high schools nationwide.

UE Caloocan SHS Grade 11 Arts and Design Track students Geremie Ampong, John Paul Abcede, Aries Lomansoc, Janelle Kirsten Chan, Patrick Concepcion, Julian Cezar Viernes, Jastine Angeles, Ken Duran, John Lloyd Canilang, Gillian Nimo, Franchesca Berces, Joshua Apuntas and Michelle Robles , collectively known as Team Reveuse, were the Grand Winners of the competition for their entry “Phantasm.” Their short film tells of a young man’s extraordinary journey through the streets of Intramuros, all for a picture in front of the Manila Cathedral. Prof. Aurora G. Cabote acted as the group’s mentor.

Mandrigma Productions, composed of UE Manila Grade 12 SHS Humanities and Social Sciences Strand (HUMSS) students Xylo Pineda, Jullien Noblezada, Lyphelle Caparal, Ashley Basilan, James Ambag, and UE Manila Grade 11 HUMSS student Jamelah Tumanguil, was the competitions 1st Runner-up for “Resiliency.” It tells the story of a girl who overcame a handicap to fulfill her goals and dreams. Professors Dannah May Ramos and Mark Philip Javier served as the team’s coaches.

The video competition encourages high school students to discover their creative side by creating a three-minute smartphone video that answers the question “How is technology changing the way you learn today?” Entries were judged on the following criteria: 30% Shareability on Social Media, 30% Appropriateness and 40% Creativity.
