UE Caloocan Accountancy Program Now ACCA-accredited

The Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) program of the University of the East College of Business Administration-Caloocan was recently stamped as an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)-accredited program on October 2, 2018!

This marks the first international accreditation granted to the program since its initial implementation in UE Caloocan.

The Campus’s BSA program will hold the accreditation for a period of five years and will give UE Caloocan’s senior accounting students and graduates several global opportunities, such as having an ACCA Certificate after passing the required competency examination, gaining a BSC (Hons) Degree in Applied Accounting upon completing of the foundation levels required by the program, and eventually becoming a Fellow Chartered and Certified Accountant (FCCA). By that time, completers of the ACCA program will be able to append “ACCA” after their name.

Prior to the granting the ACCA accreditation, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the advancement of accountancy education by providing international certifications for accountancy graduates was signed last September 17 by UE and ACCA officials and representatives. Signing on behalf of UE were President and Chief Academic Officer Ester A. Garcia, Caloocan Campus Chancellor Zosimo M. Battad, UE CBA Caloocan Dean Louie A. Divinagracia and UE CBA Caloocan-Accountancy, Business Law and Taxation (ACLAT) Department Chair Jherome Ng. Signing on behalf of ACCA were Head of Emerging Asia ASEAN ANZ Lauren Peng and Business Relationship Manager Lanie Lyn Tanzo.

Founded in 1904, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is the global professional accounting body offering the Chartered Certified Accountant qualification. As of March 2018, the London-based ACCA recorded 208,000 members in 179 countries. ACCA works through a network of over 100 offices and more than 7,300 approved employers worldwide, dubbing itself as the “world’s most forward-thinking professional accountancy body” globally.

All these opportunities are possible because of the UE Caloocan ACCA accreditation team composed of Dr. Divinagracia, Associate Dean Emeteria B. Dalisay, Prof. Ng and UE CBA Caloocan-ACLAT Department Prof. Jano C. Minorca.
