UE Basic Ed. Students Shine in YMCA High School Assembly!

The delegation of the UE Basic Education Department-Manila was awarded as Outstanding Delegation at the 30th YMCA National Assembly of High School Students and 23rd National High School Club Advisers on November 3 to 6, 2018, at Teachers’ Camp in Baguio City!

Under the theme of “YMCA @ 111: Innovate, Influence, Inspire,” the event was attended by 804 junior and senior high school participants from various public and private schools from all over the Philippines.

Five of the UE Manila student delegates stood out and earned an array of awards, medals and titles.

Grade 12 HUMSS student Marie Rosary S. Abellar was recognized as one of the conference’s Most Outstanding Delegate awardees. She had been elected as the YMCA 2018 National Assembly Vice President and was the Speaker Pro-Tempore during the assembly’s Parliamentary Procedure. She was also elected as Commission Chair during the proceedings.

Grade 12 STEM student John Venedict M. Cabrera was likewise awarded Most Outstanding Delegate in the assembly, where he was also a Lakan finalist and was elected as Commission Chair. In addition, Mr. Cabrera was also awarded as the assembly’s Best Resolution Presenter.

Grade 12 ABM student Ahna Joy M. Natividad won the gold medal in the chess tournament, while Grade 12 STEM student Chezka Pamela A. Jose won the silver medal in the extemporaneous speech contest. Grade 9 student Queen Hannah Diana Ruth A. Magusib placed fourth in the general information competition.

Completing the members of UE Manila’s delegation are Grade 10 students Eriel S. Cardano, Danielle John D. Cardano and Dreibee Dorothy Rosedor P. Criste.

Serving as the UE Basic Ed.-Manila delegates’ advisers were Ms. Swisa E. Almeyda of the Junior High School Department and Mr. Ruben O. Lobo of the Senior High School Department.
