Associate Dean Angelito C. Descalzo of the UE College of Business Administration-Manila, is one of six finalists in the recent search for the first PricewaterhouseCoopers’ (PwC) National Accounting Teacher Award (NATA), after being shortlisted from more than 70 nominees among various schools and universities in the Philippines.

PwC’s NATA is sponsored by Isla Lipana & Co., the Philippine member firm of the PwC global network (PwC Philippines), in cooperation with the National Association of CPAs in Education (nACPAE), as a nationwide search for the accounting teacher who is a distinguished model of excellence and has helped uplift the standards of the teaching profession.

The panel of judges, representing PwC Philippines, nACPAE, the Board of Accountancy, and iAcademy interviewed Prof. Descalzo and all the finalists, which included, aside from UE, representatives of Bicol University, De La Salle University-Dasmariñas, the University of Santo Tomas, the University of Southern Mindanao and the University of the Philippines-Diliman.

Each finalist was given a cash prize, while special cash prizes were also given to the finalists’ respective schools and nominators. The grand prize winner and runners-up were announced at the nACPAE-organized 27th Accounting Teachers’ Conference on April 29, 2019, at the Mallberry Suites Business Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City.

Prof. Descalzo also presented a collaborative study titled “Comparative Analysis of Job Satisfaction of Certified Public Accountants in Both Public and Private Sectors” in one of the conference’s technical sessions. The study, which was co-authored by accountancy students Vince C. Canlas, Juan Philippe Salvador R. Diuco, Katrina Joy C. Naa, Jan Alexandre L. Obedencio, Kimberly Edlen DC. Rapada, and Shekina Loraine P. Viloria, focuses on the analysis of the various factors concerning job satisfaction among certified public accountants in two most-sought fields of accounting namely, the public and private sectors.
