UE’s constantly growing research culture recently bore fruit anew as four faculty members of UE Manila’s Basic Education Department recently presented their full-fledged research work at an international conference.

Basic Education Department-Manila Junior High School Teachers Rogerio A. Gonzales Jr., Anthony B. Maniago and Joringel A. Rangpas and Senior High School Teacher Nelson G. Ramirez presented their respective research work at the 5th Asia-Pacific Conference on Social Sciences and Management (APCSSM) within May 20-23, 2019, at the Courtyard Marriot Seoul Times Square in Seoul, South Korea.

The team successfully presented two research papers at the conference.

Prof. Gonzales presented his paper on “Students’ Attitudes in Using Facebook: Enhancing Learning Experience in Biological Science,” about the use of social media, particularly FB, as an enhancing tool for teaching and learning science.

The team of Prof. Maniago, Prof. Rangpas and Prof. Ramirez presented their joint study titled “Your Wheels on Me: Lived Experiences of Women Pay Parking Attendants,” which is based on their phenomenological study of a particular group of women working as pay parking attendants in the City of Manila, specifically at the Central University Belt (CUBE).

This marked the APCSSM’s fifth year of providing a platform for international scholars, researchers and practitioners to showcase their research work in the fields of Social Sciences, Management, Education and all sub-fields.

The conference was highlighted by researchers coming from different universities around the world, including Ohio Dominican University, the University of Hong Kong, Akita Prefectural University, American Public University and Heidelberg University, among many others.

This UE Basic Education Department-Manila research team―under the guidance of Prof. Rhodelyn Saban, Coordinator for Faculty Research, and Dr. Nieva J. Discipulo, the Department’s Principal―is looking forward to motivating more faculty members to join and present their research papers in local and international conferences.

Kudos, Warrior Mentor-Research Presenters!
