Office of Cultural Affairs Brings Ballet Philippines’ Rendition of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ to UE

The University of the East, through the UE Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA), is hosting Ballet Philippines’ production of William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” The ballet presentation takes place this Friday, November 8, 2019, 4 p.m., at the UE Theatre.

“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is a comedy written by The Bard in the late 1590s, whose narrative involves Duke Theseus of Athens, the Amazonian queen Hippolyta, four young Athenian lovers, six amateur actors, and fairies inhabiting a moonlit forest.

The ballet, choreographed by Hong Kong-based Carlo Pacis, is a part of the celebration of Ballet Philippines’ 50th anniversary, and features some of BP’s homegrown talents. It had its initial staging at the CCP Main Theatre (Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo) on October 11 to 13, 2019.

Admission is free to the UE community on a first come, first served basis.
