Libraries Dep’t Conducts ‘In’ Activities for Nat’l Book Week


This last week of November, from November 24 to 30, 2019, marks the 85th observance of National Book Week, and the UE Department of Libraries, specifically through the Basic Education Department Library in UE Manila, has lined up an array of corresponding “In” activities that have the collective theme of “Inclusive, Innovative, Interconnected.”

The activities for the Department’s latest National Book Week celebration include a poster-making contest among select UE pupils and students in the Grade 1 to 10 levels and an essay-writing contest among select UE pupils and students in Grades 4 to 10.

This Wednesday morning, November 27, saw a Poem Recitation Contest (the Department’s second for National Book Week), with Kinder 1 and 2 pupils are contestants. This Thursday morning, November 28, will feature two activities: a Storytelling Contest (the Department’s third) among Grade 1 to 10 pupils and students, and a the Department’s first ever Spoken Poetry Contest among Grade 11 and 12 students.

The weeklong celebration will conclude this Friday morning with the Department’s sixth consecutive Book Talk Contest, for Grade 4 to 12 pupils and students.

The aforesaid contests have the UE Department of Libraries’ Reference Section in UE Manila, on the third floor of the P. O. Domingo Center for Information Technology (POD-CIT), as venue.

All of these activities are aimed at developing, in the participants and the student body in general, a love for books and reading, and to develop literary skills among our young learners.
