UE Basic Education Dep’t-Manila Launches National Research Conference

Committed to its vision of promoting a culture of research, the University of the East (UE) Basic Education Department-Manila is hosting its first ever Balagdiwa at Kamalayan National Research Conference!

This debuting event will be held on January 30-31, 2020, at the Conference Hall in UE Manila.

As no product of human endeavor is wholly isolated from another’s work, and nothing is produced unless first conceived in the mind, this brand new research conference carries the unique word Balagdiwa, which is an amalgamation of two Filipino words: balag, which refers to a type of lattice work, and diwa or thought. Kamalayan, meanwhile, pertains to awareness. Hence, the conference aims to be an avenue of exchange for the production, growth and sustenance of thoughts that can be translated into palpable results toward achieving particular goals.

The conference’s maiden theme is “Multidisciplinary Research: A Springboard for Nation-Building”. Given that no field has exclusive access to truth, a multidisciplinary approach towards research is paramount, with nation-building as primary purpose. Thus, this conference intends to be a platform for senior high school faculty members and students to present and share their diverse research studies in the fields of (1) Social Sciences and Humanities, (2) Natural Sciences, (3) Business and Economics, and (4) Math and Statistics through the following thematic areas: Peace, Language and Culture; Business and Entrepreneurship; Environmental Sustainability and Disaster Risk Reduction Management; Information and Communications Technology; Livelihood Technology and Sports; and Scientific Research Projects.

Participants in the oral/poster presentations are advised of the corresponding registration fees: for teachers, the rates are P2,000 for early bird registrants, P2,500 for regular pre-event registrants, and P3,500 for onsite/walk-in registrants; for students, the rates are P1,500 for early bird registrants, P2,000 for regular, pre-event registrants, and P3,000 for onsite/walk-in registrants.

Early bird registration is ongoing up to December 20, 2020, with regular registration set for December 21, 2019, to January 29, 2020. The deadline for the call for papers is January 10, 2020, and notification of acceptance to present on January 13, 2020.

For inquiries and submissions, please contact the Conference Secretariat Chair, Prof. Rhodelyn C. Saban, MSc., via uekamalayanbalagdiwa@gmail.com or 0966-225-6069 or Prof. Raynar Joseph Uybarreta via 0961-182-0701 or through the Facebook page 1st UE Balagdiwa at Kamalayan National Research Conference.
