The UE College of Dentistry was first established as a unit of the Philippine College of Commerce and Business Administration in 1948 and was granted government recognition on July 1, 1950.

The Board of Trustees first entrusted the deanship of the College to Dr. Casto del Rosario. He was succeeded in 1952 by Dr. Genaro B. Felizardo, an equally able and dedicated educator, having been a faculty member and College Secretary of the UP College of Dentistry.

In July 1964, the College of Dentistry transferred from UE Manila to Quezon City, where it shared the campus with the UERMMMC College of Medicine, School of Nursing, and the UE Research Center. This was a fulfillment of the dream of then President and Chairman Dalupan to house the health sciences in one campus.

In June 1988, to give way to the University’s plan to add new curricular offerings in the UERM College of Medicine and for the College of Dentistry to be able to expand its facilities in order to keep abreast with new trends and developments in dental medicine, a gradual transfer of the College from the Quezon City Campus to UE Manila campus was initiated. It started with the freshmen dental proper students enrolled in SY 1988-1989 who would hold classes in the new Dental Building (formerly Science Building) along F. Dalupan Street (formerly Gastambide Street). The College of Dentistry remained there for 26 years until November 2014.

And in December 2014, the College of Dentistry moved to its new building named as the UE Manila Annex – Dr. LUCIO C. TAN BUILDING. This is where the College of Dentistry is now offering its vocational, undergraduate and graduate dentistry programs namely, the Dental Technology NC IV, the Doctor of Dental Medicine and Master of Science in Dentistry Programs.

In 2006, the UE Graduate School with the College of Dentistry were able to establish not just one but four MASTER OF SCIENCE IN DENTISTRY specialty programs collectively known as POPE – that stands for Periodontics, Orthodontics, Prosthodontics and Endodontics.  These 3-year specialty courses are designed to provide dental graduates with continuing dental education to broaden their interests and abilities, and to transform them into more competent dental professionals at par with the world’s best. In addition to the Master of Science in Dentistry (MScD) specialty programs is the offering of the 2-year Master of Science in Education (MSDE) in June 2013.

In August 2011, the College of Dentistry attained the Level III 1st Re-accredited Status by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA). The College of Dentistry also is an active member to the South East Asia Association for Dental Education (SEAADE) from 2011 to present.

The College of Dentistry offers a 6-year Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) Program in accordance with Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Memorandum Order No. 03, Series of 2018 consisting of basic dental and medical sciences, clinical dentistry and community dentistry courses. The DMD program aims to produce graduates for the general practice of the profession who are scientifically knowledgeable, technically capable and socially sensitive in the maintenance of health. The graduate shall advance oral health as an integral part of general health and total well-being of the individual.

In 2017, the College of Dentistry was the first College to adopt the Verticalization of Programs pursuant to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Memorandum Order No. 36, Series of 1998. The undergraduate, Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) and graduate dentistry, Master of Science in Dentistry (MScD) majors in Prosthodontics, Orthodontics, Periodontics and Endodontics programs are under one (1) College, the College of Dentistry.

And likewise in 2017, the College of Dentistry successfully established the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Program under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) namely, the Dental Technology NC IV Program consisting of Dental Laboratory Technology Services (DLTS- Fixed Dentures/Restorations) NC II and the Dental Laboratory Technology Services (DLTS- Removable Dentures/Appliances) NC II, a 2-year vocational course with 6-month On the-Job-Training (OJT) program in accredited dental laboratory.

Today, the College of Dentistry is one of the premier Dental schools in the Philippines that stands tall of continuously producing its “Golden Harvest of Dentistry Topnotchers” and posting high passing rate over the years in the Dentist Licensure Examinations given twice in a year by the Board of Dentistry of the Professional Regulation Commission.

The College of Dentistry aims to consistently yield world-class graduates who are making noteworthy contributions to Philippine Dentistry and are highly regarded in the academe, private companies, in organized dentistry and in government institutions, in hospitals, law and military enforcement units, because of their intelligence, thoroughness and ethical values.

Today, the UE College of Dentistry is under the leadership of Dr. RHODORA H. LUCIANO who assumed the Deanship in April 2011. In the same year, she spearheaded successfully the attainment of the Level III Reaccredited Status of the Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) Program of the College of Dentistry awarded by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities: Commission of Accreditation (PACUCOA) from 2011 to 2015.
