Esther Joy G. Gutierrez, a fairly young UE College of Business Administration-Caloocan graduate, is slowly but surely making her mark in the international accounting industry, having begun working this year for one of the Big Four accounting firms in Denmark!
Miss Gutierrez, who is in her mid-20s, earned her UE Bachelor of Science in Accountancy degree, Cum Laude, in April 2018, the same year when she took and passed the Professional Regulation Commission-administered certified public accountant licensure examination (CPALE).
That was the initial culmination of the Potrero, Malabon City native’s long and colorful journey of achievement as a UE student, having been very active in extracurricular activities and campus-wide and interschool competitions as she was pursuing her BSA education while being a College Scholar and a member of the College’s Accounting Honors Class on certain semesters.
At various points in her UE CBA Caloocan life, Miss Gutierrez—“EJ” to family and friends—was the 1st-year Representative of the Association of Tax and Law Students (ATLAS), a College Y Club Debater, and the Vice President for External Affairs, Associate, and Debater of the UE Caloocan Chapter of the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA).
In September 2015, during UE’s 69th Foundation Anniversary, she emerged as the Champion of the Tagisan ng Talino’s Extemporaneous Speech competition. In 2016, she bagged at least five wins off-campus: Best Speaker at the YMCA National Congress, 2nd Place Overall and Best Presenter at DLSU Exceed 2016, and Extemporaneous Speech Champion and 2nd Place Oratorical Contest Winner at the YMCA Founding Celebration.
Her career began at the Big Four accountancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Philippines, starting out as an assurance associate before becoming senior assurance associate.
The year 2022 would turn out to be a big one for Miss Gutierrez. While an audit manager for Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler (KPMG) Philippines starting last March, she finally had enough resources to apply for and take the international certification exam of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), a membership body that accredits and supports professional accountants all over the world. Passing the ACCA exam unveiled even more opportunities for her, with job offers from the USA and other countries, before opting for PwC Denmark, where she is now a senior associate with a focus on Denmark’s top companies.
More about Miss Gutierrez and her professional journey and feats to date in this feature on her by journalist Michael Tatarski in the November 2022 issue of Accounting and Business (AB) magazine’s UK edition: https://abmagazine.accaglobal.com/…/eyes-on-the-prize…
Congratulations and kudos on your career successes, Warrior Accountancy Graduate!
