The University of the East-Caloocan Campus has achieved a significant milestone by obtaining program accreditation by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) for the UE College of Business Administration-Caloocan degree programs of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) and Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting (BSMA)!
This achievement builds upon the initial accreditation received in 2018 for UE CBA Caloocan’s BSA program. That first accreditation garnered recognition for producing UE CBA Caloocan graduates who have gone on to become world-class ACCA members in the Netherlands and in Denmark, such as Nino Mar Santos, Miyuki Hoshiai, and Esther Gutierrez.
Following the expiration of the initial accreditation, UE CBA Caloocan applied for reaccreditation and succeeded not only in maintaining ACCA accreditation for its BS Accountancy program but also in extending it to cover the BS Management Accounting program.
The ACCA Certificate of Accreditation was presented personally by Mr. Pulkit Abrol, the Managing Director for the Singapore-based ACCA Asia Pacific. A simple ceremony for the acceptance of the certificate was held in the afternoon of January 8, 2024 at Room 210 of UE Caloocan’s Tan Yan Kee Academic Building. Witnessing the turnover were the UE President and Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Zosimo M. Battad; and the UE Caloocan Chancellor, Dr. Victor R. Macam Jr.; together with UE CBA Caloocan officers and faculty members.
This new accreditation has a five-year validity period of January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2028—during which students enrolled in these programs can benefit from a streamlined pathway towards completing the ACCA qualification. This not only enhances their educational experience but also positions them to become chartered accountants with global recognition across 181 countries.
In addition to the expedited pathway, students covered by the five-year accreditation will enjoy world-class study support and substantial pricing benefits, including significant discounts on registration and exemption fees, along with waived subscription fees until their graduation from UE Caloocan.
This achievement thus opens up vast opportunities for UE Caloocan’s BS Accountancy and BS Management Accounting students, making them even more sought-after both locally and globally.
The University attributes this success to the dedication, hard work, and pursuit for excellence by the UE College of Business Administration-Caloocan team, led by Dean Emeteria B. Dalisay, supported by Associate Dean Abner A. Aquino, Program Chair Ken Elexander C. Cabinian, and Prof. Lea Christine S. Vergino.
ACCA, founded in 1904, is a globally recognized professional accountancy body that provides qualifications and advances standards in accountancy worldwide. With a commitment to widening access to the accountancy profession, ACCA supports a diverse community of over 247,000 members and 526,000 future members in 181 countries.
