Fanciful takes on Filipino desserts and more as rendered by talented illustrator John Patrick A. Gañas—an April 2017 Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) major in Advertising Arts graduate, Magna Cum Laude, of the University of the East College of Fine Arts, Architecture and Design (UE CFAD)—have been featured online by GMA Network for their eye-catching creativity!
He went on to be a UE Exemplary Performance in Visual Arts awardee for three school years and recognized as UE Artist of the Year for 2017—the same year he represented UE Caloocan in the search for the 10 Outstanding Students of the Philippines. Mr. Gañas was also UE CFAD’s College Distinguished Graduate Awardee during UE’s Yearend Commencement Rites of SY 2016-2017.
Mr. Gañas’ increasing portfolio of colorful illustrations can be seen here: //www.artstation.com/patrick_ganas… “I’ve been doing concept art and illustration for some time now,” he tells us, “and this practice further reinforced my interest in the narratives of characters and creatures alike. Moving forward, I do hope to share more stories through these subject matters.”
Collectively naming his works as part of the “Kakanin Squad,” Mr. Gañas has artistically, and digitally, rendered the likes of puto, suman, bibingka, kutsinta and sapin-sapin into imaginary but impressively realized video game characters. GMA Network’s feature on Mr. Ganas’ creations can be read here: //www.gmanetwork.com/…/kakanin-squad…/story/…
The Caloocan City-based Patrick, as family and friends call him, was a stellar, accomplished UE college student. Aside from having been a scholar on at least two occasions, he was the 1st-year Representative of the UE CFAD Student Council for SY 2013-2014 and the Executive Secretary for SY 2015-2016 of the UE CFAD student org Buklod Sining.
Kudos, Warrior Artist!
