A team of UE College of Arts and Sciences-Caloocan (CAS Caloocan) students taking up Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BS TM) represented the University of the East at a recent international research conference!
The specific event was the 5th International Research Conference organized by the Asian Studies Association of the Philippines (ASIA-PHIL) in cooperation with the Ateneo Center for Asian Studies and Trinity University of Asia (TUA).The two-day 2023 conference focused on practices and ethical positions in contemporary Asian research, with participating researchers from different universities presenting their papers under academic categories.
Representing UE at the conference—specifically on November 17, 2023, at the Wayland S. Mandel Hall Auditorium at TUA in Quezon City—were five 4th-year UE BS TM students: Kazandra Yzyl I. Pablo, Queenie Mae V. Buenaventura, Star Venus V. De Guzman, Kyla B. Guera and Angelyn Lopez. They jointly presented their paper under the “Communication and Development” category alongside researchers from various academic institutions. UE CAS Caloocan Prof. Galilea R. Lajara served as the team’s research adviser and was in attendance with the students at the conference.
The team’s thesis, titled “Actualization and Aspiration: Effects of Physical Disabilities of CAMANAVA Senior Leisure Travelers on Their Preferred Mode of Transportation,” studied how the physical health condition of CAMANAVA-based senior travelers affects their decision-making when selecting a mode of transportation for domestic leisure travel. The team’s presentation was a testament to their determination and collaboration.
