Congratulations to UE Basic Education Department-Caloocan student Rogene Graciella R. Sadian for receiving the AY Foundation National Discipline Award for 2021!
Miss Sadian is a graduating Grade 12 student of the Accountancy and Business Management (ABM) strand of UE Caloocan Senior High School. She had received the full academic scholarship for Rank 1 Junior High School completers when she was accepted as UE Grade 11 student, having completed her Grade 10 studies at the top of her batch.
As UE SHS student, Miss Sadian won 1st Place in two different contests of the UE Basic Education Department-Caloocan: the 2019 Elevator Pitch Competition, and in the Inclusive, Innovative, Interconnected Storytelling Competition.
The recognition, awarded by the Alfonso Yuchengco (AY) Foundation, is awarded to a graduating senior high school student who consistently exemplify the virtue of discipline in school and in the community.
The Foundation was named after the late former Ambassador Alfonso T. Yuchengco, and it started conferring its National Discipline Award to deserving high school students in the 1990s. Since its inception, the AY Foundation National Discipline Award has been conferred to 13,000 students of 1,200 high schools from around the country. As prescribed by the guidelines of the AY Foundation, nominees undergo a rigorous two-level screening process based on the criteria of self-sacrifice, courage, integrity and discipline.
Miss Sadian was one of the ten who passed the first level of screening for the 2021 batch. The ten selected nominees then underwent a more rigorous screening process, wherein three nominees were selected. Among the Top 3 finalists, Miss Sadian was recognized for her discipline, and was chosen to receive the award. She was notified by the AY Foundation through a letter addressed to UE Basic Education Department-Caloocan Principal Marilou S. Alonzo.
As an awardee, Miss Sadian is entitled to a medal and a cash prize, which she had already received.
