The University of the East congratulates UE College of Arts and Sciences-Caloocan student Sharmaine Hannah C. Garcia, more popularly known by her stage name Shane G., for winning the People’s Voice Breakthrough Artist Award in the recently concluded 34th Awit Awards!
The virtual awarding ceremony was held this Monday November 29, 2021, via the Awit Awards Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/AwitAwards/) and YouTube channel.
Miss Garcia is currently a third-year Bachelor of Arts in Communication student of UE CAS Caloocan, and is a member of the music organization UE Jam Sessions.
She was nominated for two awards in the People’s Voice Categories–-Breakthrough Artist and Favorite Female Artist–-for her viral single “Head Over Heels,” which has racked over 160,000 streams on Spotify.
Recently, she has caught the attention of K-pop boy band Stray Kids member Bang Chan. Her inspirational self-care ballad “Loved” was featured on V-Live, a series of streaming sessions curated and hosted by the said K-pop artist last November 6.
In addition to “Head Over Heels” and “Loved,” Miss Garcia recently released “Kapag Pwede Na,” a love song she wrote two years ago.
Akin to the USA’s Grammy Awards, the Awit Awards is the longest-running and most prestigious music award-giving body in the Philippines.
Congratulations, Warrior Awit Awards Winner!
