As of May 2026, four programs of the UE College of Engineering-Manila have PACUCOA accreditation statuses: BS Civil Engineering, Level III Reaccredited Status (valid until September 2027); BS Computer Engineering, Level II Reaccredited Status (valid until November 2027); BS Electrical Engineering, Level I Reaccredited Status (valid until August 2024); and BS Mechanical Engineering, Candidate Status (valid until August 2025).
The construction of the College of Engineering Building at UE’s Manila Campus commenced before the end of school year 1956–1957, and was completed in late 1957, coinciding with the University’s 11th Foundation Anniversary. This milestone marked the beginning of a new era in Engineering education within the institution.
The College of Engineering officially opened its doors to students during the school year 1957–1958. Initially, it offered a common first-year curriculum along with second, third, fourth, and fifth-year programs in Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering. As the demand for technological advancement and specialized engineering education increased, the College expanded its academic offerings. In school year 1959–1960, a four-year Bachelor of Science in Electronics program was introduced. This was later followed, in 1962, by the offering of the five-year Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering program.
The College has been guided through the years by distinguished academic leaders and engineering professionals. Professor Mariano Hidalgo served as the first Dean of the College of Engineering and laid the foundation for its academic growth and development. He was succeeded by Professor Crisostomo Alma Jose. Upon Dean Alma Jose’s retirement, Dean Florencio Moreno of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) assumed the deanship, followed by Professor Oscar C. Limlingan.
When Dean Limlingan was appointed as the University’s Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) and Chancellor of UE Caloocan, Professor Pacifico T. Santos became Dean of the College. He was later succeeded by Dr. Genaro T. Marzan, the College’s fifth Dean, who also served as President of the Philippine Association of Technological Educators (PATE).
Following Dean Marzan’s retirement in June 2003, Dr. Ernesto C. De Castro was appointed Dean. Dr. De Castro was also the President of the Confederation of Filipino Consultants and a Board Member of the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board. In 2006, he was succeeded by former UE College of Computer Studies and Systems Dean, Engr. Constantino T. Yap.
In June 2007, Engr. Dominador S. Pagbilao assumed the deanship and served until November 2019. He was succeeded by Dr. Florante A. Magnaye, who served as Dean from November 16, 2019, to January 15, 2023. Currently, Dr. Rogelio B. Aniez Jr. has been leading the College of Engineering since his appointment as Dean on July 18, 2024, continuing its tradition of academic excellence, innovation, and dedicated service in Engineering education.
