The UE Pep Squad once again made its mark in the cheerleading world after emerging as the 1st Runner-up of the Senior Coed Elite Division of the first-ever Philippine National Cheer Grand Prix held on June 3, 2018, at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

A total of 37 cheerleading teams joined the said competition’s inaugural edition, which was organized by the Philippine Cheer Union in cooperation with the Philippine Sports Commission. The teams came from schools that are part of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Association of Local Colleges and Universities (ACLU) and the National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (NAASCU).

The UE Pep Squad’s nearly four-minute routine set to samples of various music, such as Ariana Grande’s “No Tears Left to Cry,” featured tumbles, tosses and pyramids executed with synchronized precision and near flawless execution. Social media took notice, with a number of individuals stating their admiration and support for the Warrior Pep Squad in the competition, with most comments noticing the team’s overall improvement not just in tosses but also in other cheer elements. For their very-well received performance, the Warrior Cheerleaders earned a total of 239.5 points in the competition, ahead of eventual winner CCP’s 230 points, but settling for the runner-up spot after incurring deductions on their performance.

The participating UE Pep squad members are 4th-year Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) students Rose Marie A. Barotil, Shayenn Eira G. Dinglasan and Wilfredo C.
