The University of the East (UE) Graduate School will now offer two new postgraduate courses, Master of Accountancy (MA) and Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA), starting in the incoming first semester of school year 2013-2014.

Each of these new degree programs have a two-year curriculum and will have three majors: Management Accounting, Internal Auditing and Taxation. The MA program is non-thesis while the research-based MSA program will require a thesis.

These new courses should be of interest to graduates of accountancy, engineering or any other collegiate course of any school, whether they have already taken their respective licensure examinations or not. Graduates of the MA and MSA programs can go on to become accounting managers, finance officers or managers, internal auditors, tax consultants, tax practitioners, entrepreneurs and educators, among other professions.

Some of the country’s renowned experts in the field of accountancy, many of them UE graduates themselves, will form the professorial pool of these two new UE Graduate School courses.

Prior to the start of classes in UE this June, the UE Graduate School will conduct a series of Intensive Accounting Seminars slated for the last week of May 2013, at the P. O. Domingo Center for Information Technology (POD-CIT) in UE’s Manila Campus.

The seminars, which is open to graduates of any collegiate courses, will provide prospective MA and MSA students with a bird’s eye view of the two courses; serve as a refresher for CPAs and accounting graduates and an abridged introduction for engineers and non-engineers; and be a general introduction for those who wish to understand accounting and its uses in management.

The seminars’ esteemed guest speakers will include former Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Chairperson Hermogenes P. Pobre and PRC Board of Accountancy member Elenita B. Cabrera.

These two new degree programs can also be considered foundation courses for prospective Master in Business Administration students, and are the latest addition to the wealth of postgraduate courses being offered by the UE Graduate School. The UE GS’ course offerings also include doctorate courses in Business Administration and Education, and master’s courses in Business Administration, Construction Management, Dentistry, Education, Engineering Science, Environmental Science, Information Management, Library and Information Science, and Public Administration.

Classes in UE will start on June 13, 2013. For more information about the UE Graduate School, please call 735-5471 local 358 or 374 or 735-8533. You can also visit www.ue.edu.ph and follow UE via University of the East (UE) on Facebook and on @Official_UE on Twitter.
