ENROLL NOW AND GET THE EARLY-BIRD DOWN PAYMENT RATE, WARRIOR FRESHIES | UE maintains tuition rates, lowers enrollment down payment to P1K, waives college entrance test for SY 2026-27

The University of the East (UE) announced that it will keep tuition rates unchanged for school year 2026-2027, lower its enrollment down payment for incoming college freshmen to P1,000 for early-bird enrollees this May 2026*, and waive the UE College Entrance Test (UE CET) requirement for qualified applicants.

* The P1,000.00 minimum down payment rate applies this month to incoming UE enrollees of first-year college as well as Grade 11, Grade 7, Grade 1, and Kindergarten 1.

UE President and Chief Academic Officer Zosimo M. Battad said the measures are intended to help ease the financial burden on students and families preparing for college enrollment amid continuing economic pressures.

“These initiatives are meant to help students begin their college education with fewer financial and procedural barriers in these difficult times,” President Battad said.

Under the revised enrollment policy, incoming freshmen may enroll with an initial payment of P1,000 until May 31, 2026, and subject to documentary and academic requirements. Qualified applicants will also no longer be required to take the UE CET for the upcoming academic year, removing the need to travel to the UE campuses to take the test, thereby helping lessen additional expenses for applicants.

At the same time, Dr. Battad said the university decided to maintain current tuition rates across all academic programs for all year levels for the coming school year despite rising operational costs.

Enrollment for incoming first-year college students opened in the first week of May, ahead of the university’s regular enrollment calendar. UE college classes for SY 2026-2027 are scheduled to begin on July 23, 2026.

UE's entrance test waiver applies to graduates of public and private senior high schools, subject to compliance with documentary and academic requirements for admission.

The University is also continuing its scholarship and financial assistance programs for qualified students, including grants for senior high school graduates with academic honors, tuition discounts for children of UE alumni and overseas Filipino workers, and aid programs for qualified low-income students.

UE offers undergraduate programs through its Manila and Caloocan campuses in disciplines including engineering, business, dentistry, architecture, psychology, information technology, fine arts, and medical technology.

Onsite, UE college applications are at the University’s Admissions Offices on non-holiday Mondays through Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. K to 12 applications are at the Principal’s office per campus.

In addition, graduate students may enroll at the UE College of Law for the Juris Doctor (formerly Bachelor of Laws) degree program; the UE College of Dentistry for the Graduate Dentistry/Master of Science in Dentistry degree program; and the UE Graduate School for the various master’s and doctoral degree programs.

UE currently ranks no. 5 among Philippine private universities in Asia in the Applied Higher Education Private University Ranking: All Asia, and no. 6 in Manila and no. 16 in the Philippines based on EduRank.org.

Founded in 1946, the University of the East once held the highest enrollment record among all universities in Asia and will mark its 80th founding anniversary this September.

Former UE Library Science Professor, Esteemed Librarian Passses Away

The University of the East community condoles with the family of the late Dr. Juan C. Buenrostro Jr., who passed away this past Saturday, May 16, 2026, at age 77.

Born on July 1, 1949. Dr. Buenrostro or Sir Johnny was a former faculty member of the UE College of Arts and Sciences-Manila’s Department of Library and Information Science from 1991 to 2021. He also taught at UE Graduate School for more than a decade.

Nearly four years ago, Dr. Buenrostro was awarded by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) as the 2022 Outstanding Professional of the Year in the field of Librarianship.

Per the PRC, the Outstanding Professional of the Year award, which was conferred upon Dr. Buenrostro at the PRC Awards Night on July 29, 2022, is “the highest award bestowed by the Commission upon a professional as recommended by his/her peers for having amply demonstrated professional competence of the highest degree and conducted meaningfully in professional activities through professional organizations, contributed significantly to the advancement of the profession, and contributed significantly to the effective discharge of the profession’s social responsibility through meaningful contribution or participation in socio-related activities.”

Dr. Buenrostro had received training in library and information science in the Philippines, India, USA, and Canada. His professional experience as librarian commenced at the Asian Library of the Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation. His other assignments have included working for libraries for school children and academic (i.e., college or university) libraries and serving as a consultant to the Center for Human Research and Development Foundation, the Professional Librarians' Review Center and the Marikina Public Library—giving him a wide experience in the field of librarianship.

The former UE faculty member also served as a resource speaker in seminars, workshops and conferences on various topics within the realm of librarianship, in different institutions throughout the country. He was also the author of Batayang Aklat sa Librarianship, the first library science book written in Filipino, and other library and information science books including a reviewer for the librarian’s licensure examinations.

The wake for Dr. Buenrostro is ongoing up to this Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the Marian Memorial Chapels and Crematory on Marcos Highway, Antipolo City. Interment will be on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, 9 a.m., at Heaven's Gate Memorial Garden 1 in Antipolo City.

Rest in peace, Sir Johnny, and many thanks for your invaluable Warrior service to generations of UE learners...

Here is the guide to purchasing the new UE college uniform being introduced for school year 2026-2027.

The new UE college uniform is required for incoming freshmen*, while upperclassmen have the option to either adopt the new uniform or wear their old one.

* Note: UE college freshmen enrollment is ongoing.

Step 1: Order Placement

Fill out a Student Uniform Order Form from the Admissions Office (for freshmen) or the Student Affairs Office (for upperclassmen) in UE Manila.

In UE Caloocan, fill out a Student Uniform Order Form at the Study Area on the ground floor of the Tan Yan Kee Academic Building.

Step 2: Payment Processing

Pay at the University Cashier to receive a collection receipt. A supplier’s copy of the order form is required for the uniform’s release.

Step 3: Uniform Release

Present the collection receipt and order form to the supplier on campus** to claim your uniform.

** The uniform suppliers on campus are at the former souvenir shop on the ground floor of the Dalupan Building lobby (near the Quadrangle) on the Manila Campus, and at the Study Area on the ground floor of the Tan Yan Kee Academic Building on the Caloocan Campus.

CONGRATULATIONS, NEWLY MINTED WARRIOR TEACHERS!

The University of the East College of Education has produced a total of 18 brand-new basic education teachers!

These UE CEduc graduates—three of the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) and 15 of the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) passed the Licensure Examinations for Professional Teachers (LEPT) conducted by the Professional Regulation Commission on March 15, 2026, across the National Capital Region and 41 provincial areas.

In the Elementary Level, our examinee-graduates garnered identical first-timer and overall passing rates of 75.00%, while in the Secondary Level, the first-timers passing rate was 66.67% and the overall passing rate was at 55.56%.

That said, congratulations to our brand-new, full-fledged Warrior Teachers! Thank you that you Let Your Tomorrow Begin in the East—and cheers to your budding careers as Warrior Educators!
