EARTH HOUR TONIGHT, WARRIORS
The University of the East joins the global community in observing this yearโs Earth Hour, happening this Saturday night, March 28, 2026, from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Started in 2007, Earth Hour has been known as a โlights offโ moment, with individuals in countries around the world switching off their lights to show symbolic support for the planet and to raise awareness of urgent environmental concerns.
Since its inception, Earth Hour has become one of the biggest grassroots campaigns for the environment, with over 190 countries and territories as of 2020 participating in this symbolic event to show care for Mother Earth. And the movement has added significance and resonance this time, given the need to mitigate the repercussions of the ongoing global oil crisis.
So let's turn off our lights this Saturday for the environment and our world, Warriors!

Former Longtime UE CEngโg Cal. Professor Passes Away
The UE community condoles with the family of Engr. Norberto Villasin Francisco, a former faculty member of the UE College of Engineering-Caloocan (UE CEngโg Cal.) for almost four decades, who passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at age 72.
Born on August 12, 1953, in Manila, Engr. Francisco was a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree holder who placed 11th in the 1976 licensure examination for mechanical engineers.
By 1989, he completed all his academic requirements in both of his postgraduate programs at the UE Graduate School: Master in Business Administration and Master in Construction Management. He had also served as President of the UE Graduate School Student Government.
Engr. Francisco began his long teaching career as an Associate Professor at the Mechanical Engineering Department of the UE College of Engineering in June 1979.
In November 2012, he became the Chair of the Mechanical Engineering Department, holding the position up to May 2018.
As a UE CEngโg Cal. professor, Engr. Francisco was the CEngโg Faculty Club President in 1992-1993, and was the Chairman of both the Membership Committee and the Induction and Chartering Committee of the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers chapter of the College.
Outside of UE, he also taught part-time at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines from 1995 to 1998 and the Central Colleges of the Philippines from 1994 to 1998.
He was among the Service Awardees for 25 years of service to UE in September 2014, during the Universityโs 68th Foundation Anniversary.
He retired in August 2018, having been in UEโs service for 39 years.
Engr. Franciscoโs remains lie in state at Chapel 304 of St. Peter Chapels Commonwealth in Quezon City from March 28 to 31, 2026. While the schedule for viewing is not strictly enforced, March 28 is intended for Engr. Franciscoโs family, while March 29 is for his former students and colleagues. March 30 is for the friends of the family. A eulogy open to all will take place on March 31, the last night of Engr. Franciscoโs wake.
He will be laid to rest on April 1, 2026, at Loyola Memorial Park.
Rest in peace, Engr. Francisco, and thank you so much for your Warrior service and legacy to generations of UE students and other members of the UE community. ... See MoreSee Less

The University of the East (UE) and the government of Los Baรฑos, Laguna, have taken steps to firm up an institutional partnership that will benefit constituents of the said Southern Luzon municipality.
In a meeting this past Monday, March 23, 2026, at the Los Baรฑos municipal government office, Mayor Neil Andrew N. Nocon and his key officers and a UE contingent led by Manila Campus Chancellor Louie A. Divinagracia and Office of Extension and Community Outreach (OECO) Director Rogelio I. Espiritu and other University officers tackled a number of linkage activities that will have deserving Los Baรฑos youth and adults as beneficiaries.
Among the projects proposed by the UE team are a 120-day supplementary milk-feeding program in cooperation with the Philippine Carabao Center, and which per Mayor Nocon will be directed to a total of 90 elementary students who are part of the municipalityโs Rizal Classrooms of the Future (RCOF) project.

Ating parangalan sina Bb. Jessica Soho at Bb. Czarina โDJ Chachaโ
