The OECO, in cooperation with the Committee on Social Orientation and Community Involvement (SOCI) in the UE Manila Campus and the Committee on Extension and Community Outreach (CECO) in the UE Caloocan Campus, envisions to deliver technical, entrepreneurial, computer literacy, industrial arts, supplementary feeding, dental health and communication services and the Alternative Learning System (ALS) to adopted barangays, marginalized sectors of society and nearby communities, in collaboration with non-government organizations, people’s organizations, government agencies, civil society groups and other institutions.

The UE OECO Mission and Philosophy

UE’s outreach program believes in the improvement of the quality of life, especially the marginalized and unemployed, underemployed, out-of-school youth and adults. In its desire to alleviate poverty, the UE OECO is committed to address the learning needs of those unable to avail of the services and programs of formal education by providing opportunities for the acquisition of vocational/technical skills necessary to enhance and ensure continuing employability, efficiency, productivity and competitiveness.

The UE OECO General Objectives

UE will maintain the development of high-impact and sustained college-based outreach and other extension services to local communities, involving students in such community extension programs to provide them with opportunities for linking classroom learning with real-world praxis. The National Service Training Program (NSTP) shall be harnessed for more sustainable extension programs. UE will institute a system of rewarding promotional incentives to UE officers, faculty members and personnel who are actively involved in professional organizations as leaders.
