A group of Grade 12 Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM) strand students of the UE Basic Education Department-Manila emerged as the Champion team in the MetroBiz Challenge 2023 last November 18, 2023, at the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) in Pasig City!
The team of Karen Liberty E. De Castro, Justin John V. Rigor, Althea Raven C. Solleza, and Justin Louiz Ventura, collectively known as “BizWarriors,” bested four other teams from three schools to clinch the title in the final round.
This actually marks the second time that UE SHS Manila won the MetroBiz Challenge, its 2022 contingent having emerged as MetroBiz Champion as well!
MetroBiz is an annual event by the UA&P wherein 60 Grade 12 ABM students (15 teams of four students each) of various public and private schools all over the country compete in an actual business case competition that tests their problem-solving skills.
This year’s competition saw the BizWarriors go against 14 other teams from 10 schools in a virtual elimination round held last October 28 via Zoom. Besides UE, the other participating schools were St. Scholastica’s Academy-Marikina, Ateneo de Iloilo-Sta. Maria Catholic School, Ateneo de Davao University, La Salle College-Antipolo, Lyceum-Batangas, La Salle Greenhills, National University-Mall of Asia, St. Scholastica’s Academy-Bacolod, and Stonyhurst Southville International School-Malarayat, Batangas.
In addition, the BizWarriors also competed against a second team from UE Manila, namely the DaBeastWarriors.
Serving as the ABM students’ mentors were ABM strand coordinator and lead mentor Mr. Jericko Lian Del Rosario, and Mr. Adrian Salazar, Mrs. Ma. Nessy Angelica Dela Cruz, and Ms. Joan Carol Pioneta.
